Avon Grove Little League serves Baseball and Softball programs throughout the year. Spring is our busiest season, but we also pride ourselves in organizing instructional baseball and softball programs during the fall months.
See below for the variety of Softball Divisions available throughout the year, and use the Little League Age Chart at the bottom of the page to determine your player's appropriate age. Avon Grove Challenger Division: This is Little League’s adaptive baseball program for individuals with physical or intellectual challenges, ages 4-18, or up to 22 if still in school. If an individual can participate in the traditional Little League Baseball or Softball program with reasonable accommodations, they should do so. The league uses Tee-Ball rules and focuses entirely on providing a positive and happy experience for the players, with support from coaches, buddies, and fans. (Available in the spring season only.)
Tee Ball (4-6 YO): The primary function of this division is encouraging players to have fun while learning proper fundamentals. Team records and individual player statistics are not counted. Outs and runs scored are not counted. Teams typically consist of 8 to 10 players who are Little League Softball Age of 4 to 6. Eligible players who are league age 6 (and in certain circumstances, older) may play in the t-ball division if requested and approved by the league. Games are typically 1 hour with every player batting in each inning. Coach Pitch (5-7 YO): This developmental division (Little League Ages 6-7) builds on tee ball fundamentals in a fun environment. Players progress from hitting off a tee/coach pitch combination to coach pitch only. While individual/team statistics are not tracked, outs and runs are counted per inning to ensure a good pace of play (games are 1:15 hours, with a 4-run limit per inning). Teams typically have 8–10 players. League Age 5 players may be approved if they have completed at least one year of tee ball. Rookies (6-8 YO): The Rookies division focuses on introducing players to Player Pitch, developing fundamentals and gradually introducing competition. Player Pitch is supplemented by Coach Pitch during the season to improve pace of play. Strikeouts, steals and extra base hits are introduced. Teams typically consist of 10 to 12 players who are Little League Softball Age 7 or 8. League Age 6 players may be approved if they have completed at least one year of Coach Pitch. League Age 9 players new to softball may request to play Rookies if they are new to Softball. The division is growth-oriented, with limited coach assistance to maintain pace of play. Outs and runs are counted per inning to maintain game pace. Games are typically 1:30 hours with a 4 run per team limit or 3 outs made in the field. No umpires. Minors (9-10 YO): The Minors Division (Little League Ages 9-10) focuses on softball fundamentals, fun, and introducing competition. The division primarily uses Player Pitch, supplemented by Coach Pitch to maintain game pace. Teams (10-12 players) play umpire-officiated games typically lasting 2 hours (no new inning after 1:45). There is a 4-run limit per inning, except for the final inning, which allows unlimited runs. Players should complete a year of Rookies first. Age 8 players may request to move up by attending evaluations, with final placement determined by the AGALL Board. Majors (11-12 YO): This is our competitive division, adhering to Little League Softball rules with minimal exceptions. This division prioritizes player enjoyment and mastery of softball fundamentals. The division is entirely Player Pitch. Teams will have 10-13 players who are League Age 11 or 12. Games are typically 2 hours (no new inning after 1:45) with a 4 run per team limit or 3 outs made in the field. The last inning (determined by both coaches before the inning starts) will allow for unlimited runs. Games will have umpires. JR/SR (16U): AGALL Juniors follows the Little League International Juniors Rules and Guidelines.
